Summer Camp update
Final payment is due at the Scout meeting on May 20th. You can pay earlier, if you like. You can also pay on-line at the Troop web site at http://www.troop461.com/. See the Payment tab.
For those scouts taking merit badges at camp this summer (which is everyone not doing the Brown Sea Island program), your merit badge choices are due to Mr. Morris at he meeting on May 20. Have your choices written down, with your name on the paper. It would be a great idea to make a copy to give me, with you keeping the original.
Medical forms (Parts A, B, and C...part C is signed by your doctor) for EVERYONE attending Camp (Scouts and Adults) is due to Mr. Morris at the May 20th Scout meeting. Each person must provide: - 2 copies of the medical form (you keep the original); - 2 copies of your medical insurance card, front and back.
Adults attending summer camp need to be registered with Boys Scouts of America as Adult Leaders. See Mr. Peterson for the forms to do this.
Adults attending summer camp need to take BSA Youth Protection training. This is best and most easily done on-line. Follow the link: http://www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx to take this training (takes about 45 minutes). Print the certificate at the end, and bring 2 copies to Mr. Morris (preferably at the May 20th meeting). The Weather Hazards training is also a recommended training to take as well. If you do this training, print and provide copies of this certificate as well.

Troop News - 5/6/14
This week we will work on rank advancement requirements for younger scouts, and merit badge classes for older scouts. If you are in merit badge class, please do any homework, and bring your workbooks and booklets.
Bring in any troop tents, stoves, pots, or any other gear you checked out for the Hanging Rock outing - clean and dry.
If you have any food receipts from Hanging Rock, bring them in to get reimbursed from Mr. Peterson.
See the e-mail I forwarded earlier today from Jim Morris with important summer camp information. Note there is a parents/adults meeting this Saturday May 10 at Epworth. Start time is changed to 7:00pm, not 11:00am.
A couple of points about upcoming costs. We will talk about these in more detail on Tuesday - just wanted everyone to be aware of these now.
On May 13 we will attend a stitching class in Chapel Hill. Everyone will receive a small sewing repair kit, also we will make a donation to the instructors. So I will ask for $12 from everyone attending the class.
The PLC decided at last week's meeting that the May outing will be to the National Whitewater Rafting Center on Saturday May 24 (some of you may have it down as Sunday - that has been changed). Entry price is $52. That does not include parking or meals.
Troop News - 4/22/14

If you are not going on the outing, we will be done with circle by about 8:00pm.
I need two scouts with full uniforms to participate in the Pack 486 crossover ceremony this Thursday April 24 at 7:00pm at Duke Gardens. Should take about 45 minutes. If you are interested, please respond to this e-mail.
Hanging Rock details:
We meet at the church Saturday April 26 at 7:00am. We will return around noon on Sunday. Since it will be in the middle of church service, pickup is in the Hope Valley Elementary School parking lot (corner of University Dr. and Dixon Rd).
Bring payment of $20 per camper (cash, check, scout account, or Paypal).
Grubmasters, if you have purchased your food, bring it to the meeting so that you can distribute as necessary.
We will distribute tents, stoves, pots, and other gear.
We need to identify drivers
We will go over the general plan for the outing
I know it is very late notice, but if you want to pack your backpack and bring it to the meeting, we can help you make sure you have what you need, and only what you need.

Just a reminder that there will be no troop meeting tonight.
